Brett and Kellie are native Texans and longtime Katy residents. Brett is the Minister to Relationships at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston, where he has served since 1997. Brett and Kellie have been married for twenty-five years and have worked together in ministry since they first dated. They both love marriage, are experienced presenters and marriage educators, and are certified in PREPARE/ENRICH, Dynamic Marriage, PICK, Active Communications, Couple Checkup and other materials. The Hursts have served couples and families in various capacities for MDPC, Second Baptist Church and Sagemont Church (all in Houston) while also working with multiple parachurch organizations in the city. The Hursts are both members of the Mission Houston/Faithwalking community, AM/FM (the Association of Marriage & Family Ministries), and the Texas Coalition for Healthy Families. They are co-founders of MarriageHouston, a missional marriage community. In addition, the Hursts are on the leadership team for Date Night Houston, a citywide campaign created to encourage healthier relationships in Houston. Brett is a former board member of the Greater Houston Healthy Marriage Coalition, a member of AACC (The American Association of Christian Counselors), and a member of Wedding Pastors USA, a missional outreach to engaged couples.
In 2007, Brett and Kellie founded Home Encouragement Ministries, Inc. as a result of a shared passion for marriage and family encouragement. A year later, the Hursts created Dinner and a Marriage®, a popular format for marriage date nights, and they continue to host fun evenings with married couples monthly. Brett and Kellie have two grown children and a semi-trustworthy dog.
